Klientr vs Chatwoot

Both products put website chat and messaging apps in a shared inbox. Chatwoot is open source, so you can run it on your own servers or use Chatwoot's cloud. Klientr is hosted only. The difference in the product is what sits on the conversation: tasks, an appointment, and a PayPal or Stripe charge.

The same job, a different way to run it

If you want a shared inbox and you do not want to run servers, both clouds can do that job. Klientr includes Telegram and email on the free plan, with website chat.

Chatwoot's open-source edition is the reason many teams pick it. You can inspect the code, keep data on your machines, and add channels such as LINE, SMS, and TikTok that Klientr does not offer.

What happens after the customer writes

Klientr keeps the next step on the thread. Book a service with a provider, a duration, and a price. Send a PayPal or Stripe charge. Open a task on the contact. Copilot drafts from the messages already in the conversation, inside a monthly allowance.

Chatwoot is the inbox, the widget, and the help center, with Captain for agent help on its own product. The thread does not become a booking calendar or a payment.

What you take on if you self-host

A self-hosted Chatwoot needs a database, Redis, a worker, storage, backups, and upgrades. That is a fair trade when data residency, or cost at a high agent count, matters.

Klientr does not offer that trade. There is no self-hosted edition. You get the workspace, the interface in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, and Turkish, and the limits of the plan you are on.
